Reddish egret, Egretta rufescens

From the first time I saw it, I was captivated by its strange and exotic appearance. It has long, dark red feathers on its head and neck, gray feathers on its body, bright yellow eyes, and a pink and black beak that becomes even more colorful during the breeding season.

Snowy egret, Egretta thula

This is a stunning species that was also on the verge of extinction in the 19th century when the value per ounce of its spectacular white feathers, resembling translucent lace, became higher than that of gold.

Black skimmer, Rynchops niger

These beautiful birds have a unique way of catching fish; they don’t rely on their vision but on their sense of touch through their long red and black beaks. They fly at high speeds above the water with their beaks open, submerging only their long lower jaw.
